Fort Bragg Soldier Support Center Guide | Fayetteville NC
The Fort Bragg Soldier Support Center is Building 4-2843 on Normandy Drive at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. It houses ID Card/DEERS (appointments via RAPIDS, 910-396-9339), out-processing, the Army Military Pay Office, transition services, ACS relocation help and a new NCDMV office. New arrivals in-process at Reception Company, 4-1437 Normandy Dr.; CIF is separate, at 1399 Howell St.
The Fort Bragg Soldier Support Center (SSC) is Building 4-2843 on Normandy Drive, Fort Bragg, NC 28310, the one-stop personnel building where Soldiers and families handle ID cards and DEERS, out-processing, pay, transition and relocation help. The garrison lists the building as open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, closed on federal holidays, but each office inside keeps its own hours. Arriving Soldiers do not start here: they sign in 24/7 at the XVIII Airborne Corps Reception Company down the road.
This guide covers Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the Army installation next to Fayetteville in Cumberland County. It is not about Fort Bragg, California, the coastal city in Mendocino County that shares the name. If you are still planning the move, start with the Fort Bragg relocation guide and the Fort Bragg overview.
Where the Soldier Support Center Is
Garrison pages give the address as Bldg. 4-2843, Normandy Dr., Fort Bragg, NC 28310. The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles office locator lists the same building at 2500 O'Brien Loop, Building 4-2843, so either street name will get you to the same structure. It is a large multi-wing building, and offices are identified by floor, wing and window number.
You need installation access to reach it. DoD ID card holders drive through any open gate; family members, sponsors' guests and contractors 18 and older without a card need a pass first; children under 18 riding with a cleared adult are vouched for by that adult. See the Fort Bragg visitor access guide for passes and the gates and commute guide for which access control points are open around the clock.

ID Card and DEERS Appointments
The ID card facility on the first floor is appointment-based. Book through the DoD RAPIDS ID Card Office Online scheduler or by calling (910) 396-9339. The garrison ID card page adds several rules that trip people up:
- Each person needing a card needs a separate appointment.
- Walk-ins are seen on an emergency basis only.
- Adults must bring two unexpired original IDs with matching names, one of them a government-issued photo ID; your current CAC does not count as one of the two.
- The sponsor must be present for dependent transactions unless you bring a DD 1172-2 or a special power of attorney.
- Children must be at least 10 years old to receive an ID card, except when both parents are active-duty service members, the sponsor is a single parent, or the child does not live in the sponsor's household (ID Card/DEERS office).
- The office closes from noon to 5 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month for training.
- 82nd Airborne Division Soldiers are served at their brigade or Gavin Hall rather than the SSC.
On a government computer, the same page says to search the scheduler for site number 101429.
In-Processing: Start at Reception Company, Not the SSC
Newly assigned Soldiers report to the XVIII Airborne Corps Reception Company (18th RC) at 4-1437 Normandy Dr., at the southwest corner of Normandy Drive and Rock Merritt Avenue. It runs 24/7, and staff duty answers at (910) 396-4250. The unit page says you have up to five duty days to in-process, not counting weekends or holidays.
Bring:
- Orders to Fort Bragg with all amendments
- DA Form 31 (leave form)
- Dental records
- Your CAC
Soldiers in grades E-1 through E-6 wait at 18th RC until a gaining brigade S-1 representative signs for them. E-7 and above report to the gaining S-1 on their own. The same page encourages E-6 and above and Soldiers with families to arrange temporary lodging before reporting; the PCS lodging guide compares on-post and Fayetteville options.
During in-processing you will be sent to the SSC for the mandatory ACS Welcome Brief, held Monday through Thursday at 10:45 a.m. per Military OneSource. Family members are welcome to attend.
Is There a Fort Bragg Welcome Center?
There is no garrison office officially called the "Fort Bragg Welcome Center." People searching that phrase usually need one of three places:
- New arrivals: Reception Company at 4-1437 Normandy Dr. for sign-in, then the ACS Welcome Brief at the SSC.
- Families settling in: ACS Relocation Readiness on the SSC's third floor, which provides installation welcome packets. Its lending closet loans basic household items for 15 to 30 days to families PCSing to or from Fort Bragg; bring a copy of orders and your ID card.
- Visitors without an ID card: the All American Visitor Control Center, covered in the visitor access guide.
For longer-term housing decisions, compare military housing options after the welcome brief.
Out-Processing and Clearing
The Out-Processing Section works through unit S-1 shops rather than walk-ups. Your S-1 emails the packet (orders, the Out-Processing Intake Form and any approved IPPS-A absence) to the section, which either returns it for corrections or issues a clearing packet. Final PCS stamps and separation pre-clearance stamps are given at Window 3 in the first-floor main lobby. Transportation briefings run in the Mott Lake Media Room on the ground floor, with separation briefings Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m.; the page says you can complete this up to 90 days before departure with orders.
Uniform for appointments is OCP or Army dress uniform.
Where Is CIF? (Not in the SSC)
The Central Issue Facility is not co-located with the Soldier Support Center. Garrison service-provider listings place it at 1399 Howell Street, Building F-4213, open 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday with a lunch closure from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Schedule turn-in by calling (910) 396-7039, 396-7045 or 907-1866; the out-processing page says you only need your orders. The out-processing page noted CIF closed for its annual 100% inventory in July 2026, so watch for a similar closure each summer.
North Carolina DMV Office in the SSC
A newer addition helps with the state-side paperwork. In June 2026 the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles opened a driver license office and self-service kiosk at the Soldier Support Center. The NCDMV locator lists it as open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, offering walk-in service, written knowledge tests and kiosk renewals. It does not offer road tests, and titles and plates still require a license plate agency off post. The DMV and vehicle registration guide explains which Fayetteville office handles what, and the military rules on keeping a home-state license.
Tips for a Smoother SSC Visit
- Check each office's hours rather than the building's: several offices close on Wednesdays or Thursdays.
- Lunch closures are common between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- Book ID card appointments before you arrive in Fayetteville if your dependents need new cards.
- Keep digital and paper copies of orders; nearly every office asks for them.
- Allow extra drive time during morning gate traffic, especially from Hope Mills or Spring Lake.
